Aimee Khuu, Appointed Executive Director of Tacoma Community House

TACOMA, WA — Vivie Nguyen, Tacoma Community House (TCH) Board President, announced on January 6, 2023, the appointment of Aimee Khuu, as the new Executive Director of Tacoma Community House. Khuu, will begin her official duties on January 31st. Currently, Khuu is Chief of Health Equity for Providence Home and Community Care and has 15 years of national and international non-profit leadership experience. Nguyen noted that the Executive Search Committee, led by the Valtas Group, was comprised of board and staff members. They conducted an extensive search and are excited with their selection of Aimee Khuu as the new Executive Director.

My personal and professional experience has been driven by the belief that the resources exist for all people to thrive, and public private partnership are critical to ensuring equitable access to housing, education and employment. On a deeply personal level, I know the impact of refugee resettlement. My father arrived to the United States as a refugee from Vietnam, and as the daughter of a refugee, I continue to learn the stories of my family and community. The mission and work of Tacoma Community House aligns perfectly with my life journey, professional experience and life work. I am honored to serve as the Executive Director of Tacoma Community House.” Aimee Khuu

Aimee holds a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs, Nonprofit Management from University of Washington. In addition to her heath care career, Aimee served as an English Language Acquisition (ELA) teacher in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and is fluent in Spanish, having studied, worked and/or volunteered in Mexico, Guatemala, and Argentina.

As a passionate advocate of immigrant and human rights, Khuu, additionally, serves on the Board of Directors for Southwest Youth & Family Services, an organization committed to providing resources for low-income families and youth. She brings a proven track record of successful program growth as well as experience in leading diversity, equity and inclusion strategies and policy.


About Tacoma Community House

As one of the longest, continuously operating social service agencies in Washington State, Tacoma Community House (TCH) was founded by Methodist women in 1910 in the small room of a private home in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood. Tacoma Community House originally served a couple dozen neighborhood children. Today, Tacoma Community House has improved the lives of generations of immigrants, refugees, and other (predominantly low-income) community members, and now homeless youth through its five core programs of Immigration, Housing, Education, Employment, and Advocacy. Annually Tacoma Community House Serves approximately 3,500 adults and youth from the U.S. and over 100 other countries.
