ESL

Tacoma is home to many immigrant and refugee groups who need to learn English to succeed in their new homeland.  TCH provides ESL classes starting at the lowest levels for English Language Learners to improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

The ESL program helps individuals:

  • Learn basic survival English
  • Improve communication
  • Increase skills in order to get a job and progress at the worksite
  • Achieve a level of English that enables them to move into college training or academic programs

All classes are low-cost and open to adults 18 and over.  Because this is a publicly funded program, individuals on certain visas are not eligible for these classes.

Classes operate mornings, afternoons, and evenings, Monday through Thursday.  We provide instruction throughout the year.

For more information or to make an appointment for classes, call 253-383-3951.
