How your gift makes an impact
Further Adult Education Need: In Pierce County, there are an estimated 74,000 adults who function at the two lowest literacy levels.
Your dollars at work: $300 - pays for a classroom set of GED math books. $75 - pays for the complete set of 5 GED tests. $25 - pays for class fee for ESL classes.
Increase Employment Need: For many low-income people, a lack of employment experience and skills limits their ability to be self-sufficient.
Your dollars at work: $325 – Increases a youth’s work experience by one thirty-two hour work week. $240 – Supports a low-income adult with one week of on-the-job training.
Assist People Becoming U.S. Citizens Need: There are over 13,000 people in Pierce County who are eligible for citizenship, but need help studying for the test and completing their naturalization process.
Your dollars at work: $680 – Covers the fee for naturalizing as a U. S. citizen. $275 – Allows an immigrant to take the twelve week citizenship class at TCH.
Support Victims of Crime Need: Every year, thousands of limited English speaking men and women experience crimes and domestic violence, and due to language and cultural barriers, many are unable to navigate the legal system.
