Basic Education for Adults

ABE

Adults who require help preparing for their GED® tests—or who simply want to improve their basic skills—can enroll in our Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) program. Classes assist students of all levels to improve their reading, writing, and math skills in a blend of classroom and computer lab settings. Many students who enroll in the program often go on to further their education, find employment, and advance in their careers. We hold classes year-round, Monday through Thursday, at various times throughout the day to accommodate students’ schedules.

The program helps students:

  • Improve basic reading, writing, math, and computer skills
  • Improve work and life skills
  • Prepare to take the General Educational Development (GED®) tests
  • Refresh skills to prepare for college, technical school, etc.

Cost: Classes are $25 per quarter and open to adults 18 and over.

How to Enroll

Those interested in enrolling into BEdA classes MUST attend an orientation at Tacoma Community House, located at 1314 S. L Street, Tacoma, WA. Information sessions provide prospective students an opportunity to learn more about the program, complete intake paperwork, and schedule a preliminary testing appointment. Click here to see our calendar for upcoming BEdA orientations!
