Adult Employment Services

Tacoma Community House has offered employment assistance and job training services since the early 1930s. The main focus of our Employment program is to help job seekers in both attaining and retaining a job or new skills. We strive to help participants find a job that aligns with their financial and career goals. Our Employment Case Managers assist participants with job placement services, if needed. They have a long history of providing employment services and maintain connections with dozens of employers such as Home Depot, Concrete Technology Corporation and Fred Meyer.

Whether job seekers are looking for an on-the-job training program, seeking a safe place that helps immigrants and refugees find jobs, or searching for programs that assist people in transition from welfare into the workforce, the employment programs at Tacoma Community House help people gain the skills and experiences they need to be independent.

After job seekers gain employment, we provide long term support for participants, as well as business partners. Our employment team follows-up at the 30 day/60 day mark and can provide support/retention services.

Who qualifies for Employment Services?

  • Unemployed or underemployed
  • Low income
  • Anyone authorized to work in U.S.
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Clients
  • Basic Food (SNAP) recipients
